cradle of filth, thornography

You Can’t Listen to “Fanboys” and Their “Opinions” This Time – 85%

EvilAllen, June 8th, 2019

Well, we finally made it to this point… All the angry sissies losing respect for Cradle of Filth… Oh, no! What will these British musicians do?! The solution is simple, Cradle of Filth, to this day, still continues to write music, regardless of you idiots think and/or demand from these human-beings. Like us, they all hate, love and feel the things we do. So, let’s be real for once… Like us, the fans, the band might not like us or the things we do… Fine, it’s their right. And vise-versa. Just stop drawing tears over this album because it “frustrates” you. You’re just like a typical “snowflake” loser who can’t handle a major “change”, which this band actually needed. This is literally a better-executed “Nymphetamine” (2004).

I’ll admit, this was Cradle’s least “liked” album. And it became famous because the vast majority of fans “hated” this release, simply because they thought it was “too fabricated” and “too polished”. Oh, give me a break, fuckers. This album actually brought out the “creativity” of this wonderful band. And you can’t handle the risk they took. And yeah, according to this album’s general review, it did really bad. Boohoo… The point is, either adopt something new…or just become a stale band, lose your actual pride and just fade away. Cradle had to do something at this point, and they accepted the result. Just like I did. And you should to.

So far, this is the Cradle album I was willing to go into high amounts of detail with. The production right here, at this point of the release, is Cradle’s best-produced album. Until the later years, of course. It’s really clean, sharp, crisp. Just like a high-quality potato chip. And it’s crunchy, in a good way, too. It’s got a lot of “kick” and “punch” to it. Fine-tuned audio quality. It’s really deserving. I honestly think it’s a pretty good improvement, that the band did need.

The guitars are structured really well here. An amazing display of power, determination and absolute…near-perfect of the fine creativity. You have really awesome guitar-tuning with some very well-paced, back ‘n’ forth riffs. A very “happy” sound. Instead of a very “sad” sound…for once. The bass is (surprisingly) of decent taste this time. And does have better production, which is a nice change as well.

The drumming is rather basic this time, too. Nothing overly complex with a lot of in-depth verity. It’s a little “bare”, but it seems to work with the album’s theme. The lyrics are better written than their 2004 record this time, which is a fucking good thing. Dani came back a little here, so we’re safe. And speaking of the little dude, his vocal style is a more…”advanced” version of the 2004 release. His highs never sounded so different until this release. His highs are practically in “medium” range, even at their peak. So, whatever. Then he uses this Chuck Schuldiner-styled, medium-growl sound with his voice, to make up for the “highs” he can really do as well now.

The artwork is green. It’s not easy being green either. As this album knows all-too-well. Though, I do love the style of creation that went into the general theme. Including the “deluxe” version as well, maybe even more, too. The scene of the artwork is a little morbid as well, but that’s what Cradle are known for. Their fucked-up nature of seeing things and portraying weird shit. This album is highly experimental. And if you’re a dumb bitch, sissy-lover, then this album isn’t for you. You’ll just get “triggered”.
