Death/Grind Done Perfectly – 92%

Assuck did something that I haven’t heard many other bands do. They mixed grindcore and death metal PERFECTLY. This is perfection as far as death/grind goes. Many bands have tried to merge death metal and grindcore and end up sounding more death than grind or more grind than death. Assuck do it so perfectly; I don’t think I can call it one or the other.
One thing you may notice about this album, is how short it is. 15 minutes for an entire album, wow that’s pretty short. This can be good or bad, I think it’s a little of both. I like my grindcore short and to the point, and that’s exactly what I get here. On the other hand, the songs are so good, I kind of wanted more of them.
Production is more of a death metal production. The guitars are super heavy. The drums are loud and crushing. The bass….well it’s not really there. That’s my only problem with the production, I think the bass should be way louder. Not that big of a deal though considering the bass is usually an afterthought for a lot of bands.
The songs are, like I said, a perfect combination of grindcore and death metal. The vocals….are pure death metal. They are guttural and intense. He can do his awesome gutturals really fast. He does the grindcore singing by how fast he sings but he definitely sounds like he could’ve been in Gorguts. “October Revolution” actually sounds like it could be a Gorguts song. The songs on here contain a lot of blast beats, so if you want grindcore you will not be disappointed. The songs also contain a lot of “heavy-as-shit” death metal-ish parts. So if you want death metal, you will also not be disappointed.
Assuck did something amazing. They bridged the gap between grindcore and death metal and they did it so perfectly. I would recommend this to fans of grindcore or death metal. Simple as that
