impaled nazarene, satanic masowhore

My favorite kind of masowhore – 80%

3.5 minutes of the furious Fins doing what they do best: diabolical penis stuff. “Satanic Masowhore” (I mean the song not your mother) pretty much sounds like Impaled Nazarene doing Pure Holocaust. The hell does that even mean, you ask? I mean the riff here sounds like it could’ve easily been snagged off that album, and so does the overall sound. If this doesn’t make you want to burn a bible, there’s simply no hope for you. It starts off with a real steady rhythm which leaves no doubt in your mind that luciferian ass kicking will commence shortly. Sure enough, Impaled Nazarene’s trademark velocilove kicks in. You know these guys can’t go a minute without pummeling and grinding the shit outta their instruments, right? Then it ends with the sound of thunder, or an explosion, or something equally destructive and therefore awesome. This is pretty much the perfect black metal song and it’s catchy as fuck without compromising its hellish feel. It’s only two minutes long, so you know they go right for it and don’t spend time sprucing the song up any more than it needs. “Conned Thru Life” is an Extreme Noise Terror cover, which I can’t compare to the original because I know jackshit about ENT, sue me. This is called the diabolical penis mix, but what other mix would you expect with Imp Naz? It has obvious grindcore riffing, especially in the beginning where the black metal tuning doesn’t overshadow the riffing style. Along with that is grating guitar feedback and ridiculously distorted and piercing vocals that sound like a bleating, bleeding goat. Needless to say, it’s badass (and makes me realize I should check out ENT one of these days). I also want to point out that the bass guitar dominates on both songs, fuck yes this is how the bass needs to be on every metal album.

Since both songs fit so much rambunctiousness into so little time and both are awesome fucking tunes, you don’t have a chance to get bored if you have the attention span of a goldfish like me. There’s nothing unsatisfactory about the two tracks here, but you need to listen to this ten times in a row since you can’t hear the almighty “Satanic Masowhore” anywhere else in the Imp Naz catalog. Wish there was more than a piss-and-flush length’s worth of the cool material here.
