Ipersonally think that Japan has a touch for creating awesome thrash metal bands. Clearly, all of you must agree after such a great legacy of bands like Sabbat, Abigail, (although black/thrash but still it’s thrash), Casbah, Outrage, Jurrasic Jade, Gargoyle etc. and also the newest and fucking awesome band Tiger Junkies. And Fastkill follows in their footsteps closely. It’s raw, it’s fast, it’s kill.
Guitars are fucking awesome here, they are not much innovative, but just a good mixture of plain raw hardcore punk mixed with speed metal. Every song, from start till the end, thanks to riffage, is extremely head-bangable, and absolutely moshable. It’s like a frenzy of little ear explosions that cascade through every riff you hear. Awesome thrashy ingenuity. So guitars get 17%, being close to perfect for this kind of thrash.
To fill in a hole in this thrash experience, there are the vocals. Some would say annoying, but I say they are epic. That unique shrieking is fascinating in some ways, and really it adds up to the whole thrashy sound of the songs. The vocals are just what they’re supposed to be the “I don’t give a fuck I can’t sing falsettos”. It’s thrash, and it’s called thrash for a reason. Not every singer must sound like Rob. So the whole vocal idea is pretty interesting incorporated in this whole thrash orgy mixture. So vocals get 15% for being an enhancer of this thrashness.
Lyrics on the other hand, are standard satanic thrash, being just what they are, nothing less than perfect enough. They’re not poetic, they’re not pretty, they’re plain thrash. So they get 15% for following the consistency of the thrash experience.
Last but not least, drumming and bass line are a good and well oiled rhythm machine. Oiled enough to withstand a fucking zunami of fucking fast and raw metallic riffage. Drumming being the whole circle pit coordinator and bass line adding that fast hardcore punk bum-bum-bum bass gun-machine. So drumming gets 13% being just a 7% away from perfection and bass line gets 16% for being moshy and straight-to-the point.
Fastkill is really a good quality thrash, if you like bands like Abigail and Sabbat, that is.
