perversor, cult of destruction

The Chilean Wrecking Ball – 90%

Nathen Bedford Forrest, November 22nd, 2017

Ah Chile, land of… fuck I don’t know anything about Chile. I do know it’s not a country that comes to mind when I think about metal. Strange then to say that “Cult of Destruction” the debut effort of blackened death thrashers Perversor, is really fucking ripping. This criminally underrated album brings together a marvelous combination of the filthy vocals and attitude of Beherit with fast, aggressive, and raw blackened thrash ala Sarcófago.

Perversor really get down to business and just give you what you want with no sound clips from movies or long winded intros/outros. Perversor is kind enough to limit the filler garbage only to track 9 “Razas Muertas”, which is completely worthless and deletable. No slow boring parts either, anytime this band gives you a reprieve it comes in the form of galloping mid paced sections, then throws you back into the chaos with more blasting and thrashing. The sound quality is on the raw side but balanced very well, everything audible, nothing too prominent.

Nothing super technical or groundbreaking here, just a tasteful blending of thrashy metal goodness, delivered in a fast, furious, and fun way. The songs are catchy and uncomplicated, and perhaps best of all Perversor does not over stay they’re welcome and keeps the record short and sweet. Good ol’ filthy blacky thrashy fun… Cult of Destruction!
